About Us: Burgess Optical

I'm Bill Burgess, and Burgess Optical is a dream come true for me. I get to design and build all these great astronomical telescopes, binoculars, and accessories, and provide them to you, our customers. I try my best to keep MAKING AWESOME AFFORDABLE. I also get to work with my beautiful wife Tammy. She handles a lot of the telephone calls and the back office tasks. Together, we are Burgess Optical.

We are not a large company with lots of employees and lots of overhead. Our operation is small with little overhead. That is how we keep MAKING AWESOME AFFORDABLE! Quality is important to me. I personally inspect the products we ship to our customers.

In 2004, Burgess Optical began working with Thomas Back of TMB Optical to develop and bring to market new products. The first of these products were introduced in 2005 and included the line of Planetary eyepieces. We now have many TMB Optical products, include the Planet Hunter and the Paragon Eyepieces.

How we do what we do: I do not have any manufacturing facilities. Manufacturing of Burgess Optical products is performed by others at various locations. Some products and parts are made overseas, to my specifications. Other products and parts are made here in the United States. Some products are assembled overseas, and some products are assembled here in the States. However, I am responsible for the quality of the products we ship.
