Tripods & Mounts: Omega Bino MountThe Burgess Optical Omega Mount is a small binocular mount suitable for binoculars up to 15x70. The Omega allows easy access to a binocular when used with a standard photo tripod by offsetting the binoculars from the center of the tripod. The Omega mount allows for easy altitude adjustment while using the azimuth adjustment of the tripod head. The Omega Mount comes in two versions: one version is ready for you to add your own binocular bracket, and another that includes a Z-Bracket for attaching the binoculars to the mount. The Z-Bracket includes a dovetail for attaching an MRF finder. Below the Z-Bracket is the altitude adjust knob. While holding the binoculars, loosen the knob and adjust the binoculars so that they are pointing higher or lower in the sky. The Omega does not have an azimuth adjustment. It must be used in conjunction with a tripod with an azimuth head, such as a standard photo tripod with either a pan head or three-way head. The Omega has a 1/4x20 threaded opening on its base for attaching to the photo head. Terry Alford, an East Tennessee master craftsman, makes each Omega Mount. Available accessories include the MRFTM finder and extra flat mounting bases. |
